Texas Equity Crowdfunding Leaders to Speak on Rules
As the excitement for Texas equity crowdfunding grows, the Texas Crowdfunding Network plans to host its first seminar two weeks from today on Wednesday, February 11th in Austin. The event will take place at the Capital Factory from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Organized to help small businesses and entrepreneurs prepare for the intrastate crowdfunding requirements, the seminar will feature five guest speakers. The guest speakers will be CEO’s and other influential members of Texas intrastate crowdfunding portals and offer a variety of advice for entrepreneurs and startups interested in what equity crowdfunding can offer their company. Attendees will also be privileged to a 45 minute Q&A to ask any specific Texas intrastate crowdfunding questions they may have.
One of the topics discussed will be the paperwork that must be filed with the Texas State Securities Board (TSSB). Back in November we wrote a blog on the filing eligibility for Texas intrastate crowdfunding and provided a long list of explanations and definitions on these filings. It is very important to understand the exact paperwork and requirements of the TSSB, so please read or reread this blog until you have a clear picture of the requirements.
Seminar organizer Robert Haskins offered this quote in a Yahoo! Finance article on the event:
“The TCN organization can help provide Texas startups with a wide variety of crowdfunding services such as helping issuers/campaign managers select the best Texas crowdfunding site for their company’s private placement memorandums (PPMs),” Hoskins stated. “In addition, we offer leading crowdfunding training webinars; assist with financial documentation preparation; help develop crowdfunding profiles and campaigns; as well as help plan cost-effective advertising, PR and social media marketing campaigns to promote the client’s fundraising drives to large groups of targeted accredited and non-accredited investors living in Texas.

Texas Intrastate Crowdfunding History
It’s hard to believe five months have passed since we announced Texas equity crowdfunding on our blog. We published “Don’t Mess with Equity Crowdfunding: Texas to Become 13th Crowdfunding State” on August 12th, 2014 and were excited to see the 2nd largest state population of non-accredited investors ready to join the intrastate movement. On October 22nd, 2014 the Texas State Securities Board voted 4-0 to approve the new intrastate equity crowdfunding rules. The rules became effective on November 17th, 2014.
