Entrepreneur Conferences, Competitions and Celebrations
It may be hard to believe, but 2015 is only a couple of weeks away. With the New Year comes new hope, new opportunities, and of course, a new season of entrepreneur events. At truCrowd we truly believe in the power of networking and rubbing elbows with other startups and entrepreneurs. We all have much to learn from each other, and let’s be real, who doesn’t want to jet off to some cool location and venue for work?
Most of the later 2015 events are still in the works, but we made a solid list of seven entrepreneur events happening in early 2015. All of these are from January-May, so if you plan to attend one, be sure to research all of the registration and travel details. We provided links to all of the event pages as well so you can see everything each event has to offer.
Here are seven sources of entrepreneur events in early 2015:
The United States Association of Small Business Entrepreneurs (USASBE) will be hosting it’s 29th Annual Conference at the Downtown Tampa Hilton in late January. Not a bad time to be in Florida if you live in most of the U.S.! This year’s event, Sun, Fun and Innovation, will be full of sessions and seminars for advancing entrepreneurship teaching and research. Special guest speakers include Richard Gonzmart, President of the Columbia Group, Hellen Davis, Founder, President and CEO of Indaba, Inc. and Nina Nashif, Founder and CEO of HealthBox. The event is in about five weeks so be sure to register soon if you plan to attend.
This is year’s event, which will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center Palm Ballroom, features famed entrepreneur Barbara Corcoran as the Keynote Speaker. During the keynote presentation, threeentrepreneurs will take the stage and have five minutes to pitch their product or business to receive customized advice from Barbara herself. Interested entrepreneurs can submit their information on the on the registration page. The one day event will also provide an opportunity to pitch your business to an Entrepreneur Magazine editor to be featured in the magazine or Entrepreneur.com, a chance to network with the small business community and much more. Redwood City’s Fox Theater will be hosting Startup Grind 2015 and its jam-packed itinerary that includes 28 speakers, 8 workshops and close to 200 featured attendees. This Silicon Valley event is one of the largest in the industry and offers a variety of workshops, Q&A’s and parties to get everyone involved and create connections. As if you needed an excuse to go to SXSW, the 7th Annual Accelerator startup competition will be held at the SXSW Village on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15. A panel of expert judges, in addition to the live crowd, will witness advancements in various sectors of emerging technology. A total of 48 Interactive technology companies compete which are chosen by the SXSW Screening Committee. The field will be narrowed from 48 to 18 with the remaining 18 presenting to a new set of co-emcees and judges. At the end of the day on Sunday, these judges will select the grand prize winners for each category. The winners will go on to be honored at the SXSW Accelerator Awards on Sunday evening. An introduction to the GEC: The Global Entrepreneurship Congress is where startup communities connect with policy makers and support organizations to build one, global entrepreneurial ecosystem. Powered by the communities that celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week in November, the GEC shares inspirational stories who start and scale new firms, along with programs and policies that advance innovation, job creation and economic growth. 160 nations participate in the summit and work together for a full week to find the best ways to advance the entrepreneurial communities and the ecosystem that supports them.

The Enterprising Women of the Year Celebration & Conference returns to Disney this year and will be held at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The event begins Sunday evening with a reception for the honorees followed by workshops, a mentorship luncheon, and a welcome reception on Monday. Tuesday’s schedule includes a breakfast with the Advisory Board, Hall of Fame luncheon, and gala awards dinner. The event won a Stevie Award in 2013 and 2014 in the “Event of the Year” category. The Event of the Year award recognizes outstanding performances in event planning among women-owned businesses.
The Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Summit celebrates African American entrepreneurs and the community as a whole. The four-day event is filled with informative and network-building events such as a Welcome Reception, Keynote Speakers, Small Business Boot Camp, One-on-One Celebrity Conversations, Small Business Award Luncheon, Live Music Performances, Elevator Pitch Competition, Deal Makers Expo, and a Celebrations & Awards Dinner. More than 1,200 people attended last year’s event which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in 2015.
The American entrepreneur community continues to blossom and develop year after year. It seems like there are more and more events popping up each year and all of the past events are getting larger and more popular as well.
